The Iligan City-based Tubuh Sug Mindanao Association (TSMA) and Royal Sultanate (Rosul) Karimul Makhdum successfully organized a Strategic Forum ll on the Sultanate of Sulu Darul Islam (SSDI) at Iligan and Marawi Cities on January 21-23, 2011. The second of its kind, the Forum was participated in by Tausug professionals in the cities of Iligan, Lanao del Norte and Marawi, Lanao del Sur. It was also attended by Sultan Bantilan Muhammad Muizzuddin II @ Datu Ladjamura “Uda” bin Wasik Aranan, Habib Zakaria bin Abdullah, Executive Minister and other SSDI officials.
TSMA, lead by its president Dr. Ben J. Kadil, hosted both Forums in Marawi and Iligan cities for the visitors from SSDI. The meeting in Marawi City was held in Mindanao State University campus while the one in Iligan was held at the community mosque compound of TSMA. A number of resolutions were passed, among which are the following:
- 1. That in order to constitute a permanent and working governance, the Sultanate of Sulu Darul Islam (SSDI) shall revoke all interim appointments issued on 17 November 2010 and appoint a new set of officials;
- 2. That since SSDI has not made public any foreign policy, no one shall be authorized to speak for and in its behalf on matters of foreign policy;
- 3. That in order to consolidate all strategic gains, and to prepare all documents necessary for governance and for international consumption, a Strategic Forum III or Convention shall be organized in Zamboanga City in February 2011;
- 4. That SSDI shall not recognize any unilateral act of interim ministers without the approval of Sultan Bantilan Muhammad Muizzuddin II, who has powers and prerogatives over the affairs of SSDI, being the supreme leader of the nation.
Tubuh Sug – Mindanao Association officers were represented by Dr. Ben J. Kadil, President; Najar Asjali, Vice-president; Radzma Dahamban, Secretary; Helen O. Kadil, Treasurer; David Lee, Auditor; Hussein Melino, Information Officer; and S. Abdel Fattah A. Alamhali, Alsi Iggo, Adjirul Lappang and Hja Noraisa Macud, Council of Elders. Also present was Datu Seri Orangkaya Muhammad Tuttuh Ensano of the RoSul Karimul Makhdum and Minister of Economic Planning and Development of SSDI.
Some of SSDI senior ministers, who are also members of the Rumah Bichara or Nakurah, are preparing documents, including the delineation of the territory, to be presented to the United Nations commission on the Sultanate of Sulu which will be convened soon. The next strategic forum or convention in Zamboanga City shall be attended by professionals and some representatives of the international community as observers.
